Cerec
What is CEREC?
CEREC is a revolutionary technology for cosmetic dentistry that allows us to produce high precision ceramic restorations using 3D digital imaging and CAD/CAM. With CEREC, all ceramic crowns and restorations can be completed in a single appointment, rather than multiple appointments required with earlier techniques because they are milled in the office.
How does CEREC work?
After the tooth is prepared, the CEREC 3D laser camera scans the tooth. Using this 3D computer rendering of the tooth, Dr Kaunitz customises and designs a ceramic restoration that integrates perfectly with the natural tooth. This restoration is fabricated in the office using the CEREC milling unit in as little as 5 minutes. The restoration is then bonded to the natural tooth, adjusted, and polished. CEREC technology powerfully combines digital imaging, cutting edge 3D modelling and high precision fabrication to deliver highly aesthetic and extremely durable ceramic restorations that are superior to traditional methods.
What are the advantages of CEREC?
-
It produces highly aesthetic and extremely durable ceramic restorations which are completely metal-free.
-
It uses biocompatible materials that look and behave very similarly to natural teeth.
-
Teeth can be restored in a single visit, which means you do not need any return appointments and you see the results immediately.
-
No uncomfortable impressions or temporary fillings.
-
It requires minimal removal of the original tooth structure, therefore preserving as much of the natural tooth as possible.
-
Precision fabrication produces better fitting restorations that are more comfortable and require fewer adjustments later on.
